After a successful launch in October 2020 and an amazing support of the local community in our first year of business, we are very excited to announce that we have made it into Brisbane stores! In addition to all White IGA’s on the Sunshine Coast, our delicious meals are now available at selected IGA’s in Brisbane’s city center and its surrounding suburbs.

We are very excited to introduce our new range of The Hatted Chef – Single Serves.

Our team has been working very hard to create delicious new meals that will make your mouth water, whether you are a smoked meat lover or a vegetarian at heart, there is something for everyone! For our veggie lovers, we offer two delicious vegetarian options: A Creamy Roasted Pumpkin Risotto with baby spinach, soft herbs and parmesan and a delicious Wild Mushroom Risotto with spinach and soft herbs. For our smoked meat lovers, we offer three delicious meals: A Smoked Pulled Beef Brisket, a Smoked Wagyu Brisket and a Smoked Pulled Pork. All our meats have been smoked for 12 hours, before they get smothered in our signature spice blend and vacuum-packed with Carolina Rice and smoked BBQ sauce.

We were thrilled recently to have Super IGA Maleny contact us about stocking our heat and eat meals, following requests from customers so thank you! The full range is now available in Maleny – our first week there last week was a sell-out and new stock has just been delivered. Thanks to everyone for your support!

THE HATTED CHEF- chef-prepared, heat & eat meals are now on sale at all White’s IGA stores, offering great time-saving delicious meals as well as creating local jobs, and feeding the homeless.

The idea for the new venture had been brewing in the kitchens at The Dock Mooloolaba since very early in the year when Chris Sell joined as executive chef, but it took on new importance during the COVID-19 shutdown.

“Even chefs want something delicious and nutritious when they come home at the end of a busy day, without having the hassle of preparation so it’s always something you think about.

“Then when the restaurant was closed for dining in because of COVID-19, we wanted to create options for our customers beyond just takeaway and also provide work for our staff,” Chris said.

Sunny Street

At the Hatted Chef we want to do more than just feed our customers. We also want to provide employment, use local suppliers wherever possible and give back to the local community.

That’s why we have partnered with Sunny Street – where food starts a conversation. For every four meals sold, we will be providing one meal, or funds to the same value to assist Sunny Street to support the homeless.

Dr Nova Evans and Sonia Goodwin met in February 2017 whilst working in the Public Health System.

Within their employed roles, they both worked as managers of services whose primary focus was to discharge people safely home from the hospital system.

The Hatted Chef is launching very Soon.

Even chefs want something delicious and nutritious when they come home at the end of a busy day, without having the hassle of preparation and clean up.

The Hatted Chef was born out of Sunshine Coast restaurant The Dock Mooloolaba, to solve this problem for everyone.

Head Chef, Chris Sell set about developing recipes that capture all the deliciousness of the smoked meats The Dock Mooloolaba is famous for, in a way that they could be packaged and easily heated up on demand, while also offering vegetarian options.

Spurred on by the COVID-19 restaurant shutdowns in early 2020, the plans were accelerated, and The Hatted Chef WILL be launched in October.

Using the same ethos as at the restaurant, The Hatted Chef uses the highest quality ingredients, sourced locally where possible, with the meals lovingly prepared by chefs under the watchful eye of Chris, who was awarded a coveted Good Food Guide Chef Hat in 2016.
